I am very pleased to report that guitarist Robert Kolowitz (ex-Blackstorm\RapidFire) and current member of HellHound has been recruited as the latest addition to the IMAGIKA line-up. Robert brings years of experience and perseverance to the 2nd guitar slot. His former bands have performed with Anthrax, Death Angel, Legacy (Testament), Forbidden, Megadeth, Nitro, Vicious Rumors and Slayer.
Guitarist Steve Rice comments; “The band was impressed with Rob’s ability to learn our material quickly and on his killer guitar skills. IMAGIKA will sound even more aggressive now and we look forward to our future collaboration as we start the writing for our next CD. Rob came in at a great time on the eve of our new release “Portrait of a Hanged Man” which we believe is our best release to date. The fans can definitely expect a heavier, louder and faster IMAGIKA!”

IMAGIKA will premiere the song “Scared To Death” and CD cover for our upcoming release "Portrait of a Hanged Man" exclusively through Metal Rules.com on Monday, January the 18th.
Guitarist Steve Rice comments: “Metal Rules and Evil G have been huge supporters of the band since the beginning and we wanted to show our appreciation by premiering the opening track “Scared To Death” from our new CD through the site. This song is a good ass kicker and definitely sets the tone for the rest of the CD… Heavy, fast and melodic!”
Evil G from Metal Rules says: “IMAGIKA were one of the first bands that sent their material to me for review way back when Metal-Rules.com was still taking shape back in 1997. They set the bar very high for what I expected for other indie/debut releases and continued to impress me throughout the years. Their music has maintained its strength and vision right up to their forthcoming 2010 release “Portrait of A Hanged Man”. I'm honored they've chosen Metal Rules to exclusively feature the track “Scared To Death”. The song is a perfect example of the band's masterful mixture of aggression and melody.”
The CD Cover which drummer Henry Moreno created will also be revealed.
Henry Moreno comments on the artwork, “Well, obviously the concept had to be something to do with the CD title so I created the first piece which was a person with a noose around their neck but it didn’t have that “CD cover” feel. Metalville and Steve made some suggestions and one thing they came up with was what if the hanging man was a silhouette. I thought that was a cool idea and ran with that and really just followed the theme of the song, which is about a person seeing the haunting vision of a portrait of man being hanged that comes to life. Metalville and the band really liked the finished product and so the CD cover was born! The original first piece is also included in the CD booklet. I really had fun with this project and I believe it’s some of the best work I have done so far. I hope the fans enjoy it as much as we do.”

Guitarist Steve Rice states, “IMAGIKA road tested a lot of the new material live on our recent US tour in May and this definitely confirmed we were going in the right direction by the reaction we received from our fans. We hate making the same CD twice and never will. We always want to keep pushing ourselves to the next level and I believe we’ve achieved this with the quality of the new songs.”

All things must come to an end as does my time in Machine Called Man. Today I am officially leaving McM due to stylistic differences. Fans of the band shouldn't be worried as the music for the next CD is VERY good. However I feel the band would do much better with a different style of vocalist.
I want to thank my band members and wish them well as they move forward with the new CD. I would also like to thank all the fans, family & friends that have supported me during my 8 year run with the band.
I will be dedicating more time to my family and my band IMAGIKA.

A quick IMAGIKA update... The band has made some great strides with the release of "Feast For The Hated" this year. The CD was one the most played/added US metal radio releases this summer on CMJ and FMQB. We started out 3 (CMJ) and 5 (FMQB) and stayed in the top 20 for over 6 weeks. All commercial and college radio reports to these 2 companies so we were very stoked with the exposure. The CD also picked up some great response and reviews in the European metal press. Of course we tried like hell to tour behind the release in both markets, but have unfortunately hit the usual proverbial wall with no one giving us a shot to make it happen. Some think we don't like to tour or don't give a fuck, but we love playing live and never had any label support or any support period for that matter to make it happen. But no worries we'll be doing our own West Coast dates shortly so stayed tuned.
Writing has already been underway for the next CD with for 4 songs already in the bag. All the music is written and we just need to pull it together as band over the next few weeks. A title for the next CD is already in place but will keep it under wraps for a little while longer.

Time for some Machine.Called.Man News:
Machine.Called.Man has been hard at work writing material for our 2nd CD and is currently finishing up the mixing process on the Demos. Even though the demos are not 100% complete we figured they were close enough to upload for everyone that has been bugging us to hear the new material.
We have uploaded the following 4 Demo tracks:
- Doppelgänger
- One Man's Silence
- Pray For Time
- The Dark Design
These tracks are available for streaming on our MySpace page.

The new songs are MUCH heavier and perhaps even a bit more progressive than the last CD. Definitely take a listen to all 4 of the tracks and let us know your honest opinion.
I'd also like to take this time to formally introduce the addition of our newest member Tara Thuriot (Keyboards\Vocals). Tara adds a completely new element to the group and has really helped define our new sound since joining.
Many of you that attended the Imagika CD Release show will be familiar with Tara. Tara sang the song "Succubus" live with me at the release show.
